Fasten off and weave in ends

Putting together the Cardigan

Whip stitch front panels and back panels together at the shoulders.

Whip stitch side seams. Make sure to leave an arm hole (reference chart to find your arm hole size)

Pick up stitches evenly along the length of the front panel starting at the bottom inside edge of the front panel, around the neck line and down the other side panel. To start make a slip knot and insert your hook in the first stitch, yarn over and pull through the loop. Continue on making a single crochet evenly around the edge of the cardigan. Once you reach the end turn and chain 1, sc around. Fasten off and weave in the ends.

Sewing the sleeves.

Fold each sleeve in half lengthwise and whip stitch the seam closed.

Whip stitch the sleeve to the cardigan. Make sure to line up the sleeve seam with the seam on the body of the cardigan.

Do you have a format that can be printed out, I like to mark up my patterns so I don’t lose my place.

      Hello,
I currently do not have it written up in PDF format. I can try and get one made up this weekend to send to you.

Hi! I am trying out this pattern but I am having trouble with counting the stitches in Row 6, I followed the instructions but the last stitch is left empty. Is the last hdc supposed to be in the second last stitch? I also can’t count the total stitches of 75 in that row (I counted 73 only).

    1. northernmoose

Can you email me through the contact form and I can better assist you?

  3. Dawn Gaede

On row 18 of the sleeve, the pattern says its an increase row, but I don’t see any increases. Is the 1st HDC in the row supposed to be 2 HDC in one stitch?

      Hello,
Are you asking about the medium sized row 18?
By placing and hdc in the first stitch and ch 1 that is making an increase.

Normally you’d skip the first stitch. But since your placing an hdc in that first stitch you are making an increase.

      Hope this helps!

Sorry about that. I was looking at sleeve section Row 18. I see it now. By putting the hdc and the ch 1 in one stitch in beginning…thats the inc. Duh. Silly me.

Which side of the sleeve gets attached to the body of the sweater, the smaller or larger end?

    1. northernmoose

      Hello!
      The larger end gets attached.

        Thank you!

Hello! Just stumbled across this pattern and am having difficulty from the start in getting the correct stitch count per row. Do the ch 2’s on each end /row transition count toward the total number of stitches? A foundation chain of 77 gave me the correct stitches of 75 on Row 1, but I keep getting one extra stitch on each row after that somehow. Thank you!

    1. northernmoose

      Hello,
The ch 2 count does as a stitch. The foundation chain should be 76 stitches. That might be where the extra stitch is coming from.
The only other thing I can think of in regards to getting an extra st is that you are placing an hdc in that first stitch with the turning chain.
Let me know if this helps!

Hi there. I just finished making this cardigan for my sister and it actually turned out beautiful. I’m amazed because I’ve never made a cardigan before and felt rather clueless about piecing the parts together – I typically stick to blankets and other rectangles. Thank you for creating and sharing this. I really enjoyed the stitch patten. This is a yarn I wouldn’t ordinarily buy but now I understand what a difference a nice draping yarn makes with wearables. You rock! Happy fall!

Thank you so much for your kind words!

    Hello,
I’m starting with 114ch, if I hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook it leaves me with 111ch left to work with not 113ch as the pattern states, am I missing something ???

    1. northernmoose

When you hdc in the 3rd ch those first skipped stitches count as a stitch. So when you are hdcing in the 3rd chain you’ll now have two stitches made.

Ahhh, thank you so much….I knew there’d be something I was missing….thanks again.

Hi, me again…..in the pattern for sizes 2x,3x,4x,5x (I’m doing 3x) row 16 for ‘sleeves’ is missing.
